Is poinsettia toxic to cats?
Also called: poinsettias, Euphorbia pulcherrima, Christmas star
Toxic
Mildly toxic: it irritates the mouth and stomach.
It's classed as poisonous, but the effects are mild: drooling and vomiting are the most common signs. Its reputation is worse than its toxicity.
Signs to watch for
- Drooling, vomiting and, less often, diarrhoea.
- Eating a large amount can cause severe vomiting, diarrhoea and loss of appetite.
